climate trunk poject
Ort: Gartenschau Eingangsbereich

Kaiserslautern gets 6 special benches. In cooperation with the SDW RLP, the House of Sustainability in Johanniskreuz, the Kaiserslautern Forestry Office and the foresters of the city of Kaiserslautern, the KlimaLautern e.V. association is presenting project “Klimastämme”.

The climate trunks clearly show how our everyday life affects the climate and what we can do about it. These are tree trunks with an information board and seating, which also invite visitors to linger.

The first two benches will be carved and set up live on site! On the Day of the Forest (Fri, March 21) in Kaiserslautern Wildlife Park and at the opening of the Garden Show on April 1, artist Andy Assmann will carve a bench live on site.

MI(N)T workshop “NO PIZZA WITHOUT MUSHROOMS”
Ort: Blumenhalle

BIOTECHNOLOGY IN THE KITCHEN

Why does yeast dough work? What are lactic acid bacteria doing in my yogurt? Why do bacteria and fungi live on our skin? Join us to explore the power of tiny microorganisms and find out what conditions yeast needs to make fluffy pizza dough.
What do pizza, doughnuts and strawberry yogurt have in common? Well, apart from the fact that they are invariably delicious, they are all made with the help of tiny living cells called microorganisms. In the case of the refreshing strawberry dessert, so-called lactic acid bacteria ensure that liquid milk is turned into tangy, creamy yoghurt. A microscopically small fungus – the yeast fungus – is used in the production of pizza and Berliners. In our workshop, we would like to find out with you under what conditions such a yeast fungus can produce delicious pizza or Berliner dough or even beer and wine.

Tree YOGA with Katja Binder
Ort: Treffpunkt Eingang Kaiserberg

Would you like to experience the healing powers of trees in combination with forest bathing (jap. Shinrin-Yoku) and yoga?
Surely you have already experienced the calming effect of a walk in the forest and perhaps you already know the harmonizing and energizing feeling.

After a short thematic introduction, we go together to the trees on the meadow at Barbarossa-Woog or near the Biblical Garden and absorb the atmosphere of the trees with all our senses. We try to let go of all our worries and the stress of everyday life.
Trees exert a fascination of their own. Every tree has its own nature and associated characteristics. We will explore these on our walk.
We will walk a short distance together in silence, pausing again and again to take in the atmosphere. Standing yoga asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises) and exercises from tree yoga round off our tree experience.
Let yourself be surprised when mindfulness exercises are incorporated.
Of course, there will also be a relaxation session at the end to integrate the movement and the experience.
The exercises are also suitable for beginners and those with no previous experience. We mainly practise standing up.
Forest bathing and the yoga asanas help to take a break from everyday life. This leads to relaxation and regeneration. These promote stress reduction. The immune system can be strengthened. You will feel relaxed, refreshed and much more flexible afterwards.

Please bring with you.

  • Something to drink, shoes appropriate for the weather, sun protection, insect and tick protection.
  • Comfortable clothes that allow you to do standing yoga exercises.
  • A towel, small mat or other surface to protect the floor from moisture or to be able to stand on barefoot.

Participants enter the premises at their own risk; the course leader assumes no liability or guarantee.

The event may be cancelled and/or postponed at short notice in the event of storms, lightning or heavy, persistent rain.

MI(N)T-Workshop “CHEMISTRY WITH LIGHT”
Ort: Blumenhalle

The sun has always been the most important source of energy for life on earth. In the future, however, light will also be the most important form of energy for sustainable technical developments. Processes involving light, such as the conversion of sunlight into electrical energy with the help of solar cells or into chemical energy storage, so-called solar fuels, by means of artificial photosynthesis, are decisive factors for solving the global problems of the 21st century. Artificial photosynthesis uses sunlight as the only source of energy to produce chemical energy carriers or valuable substances. In this workshop, the conversion of light into chemical energy and basic processes of the photosynthesis/respiration cycle are simulated and explored using simple model experiments that students can carry out themselves.

Musical and literary summer evening
Ort: Weidenkirche, Kaiserberg

Musical-literary summer evening under the canopy of the Willow Church. The duo Wortlaut (Madeleine Giese, Rainer Furch) and the duo ICstrings go on a musical and literary foray to

VENICE!

Venice has been described so often that everyone has the city in mind, even if they have never been there. A myth, a destination of longing for centuries. 14 million visitors a year wander between St. Mark’s Square, Rialto and Piazzale Roma, marveling and being seduced for the first time or again and again. The lavish and beguiling magic of a city between sea and land, a bewildering cosmos of unprecedented beauty…..

Together with the ICstrings duo (Caroline Busser, cello, and Ivan Knezevic, violin), we roam criss-cross and sometimes sempre diretto through the lagoon city. And serve up “musical-literary cicchetti” – as the delicious appetizers are called in Venice, small slices of bread cleverly topped….

The composers and writers, poets and playwrights in this program all wrote and raved about Venice: Venice.

Henry James put it in a nutshell: “There are two kinds of cities: all the others and – Venice.”

Foto: Stefan Kiefer

In case of rain, the event will take place in the “Waldhaus”.

Gastro:

The “Bunte Haus” on the Kaiserberg is open and offers Aperol Spritz, Hugo and Lillet Wildberry, snacks or a refreshing Mövenpick ice cream.

Tickets:

The Willow Church has a limited number of seats. For this reason, we issue admission wristbands that guarantee a seat.

From Wednesday, August 13th, you can reserve a seat by picking up an admission wristband at the box office at the main entrance.

On Saturday, August 16th, you can purchase your regular admission ticket to the garden show at the box office if you do not have a season or permanent ticket and receive a seat in the Willow Church with your admission wristband. There are no seat numbers. You can choose your seat freely.

The remaining admission wristbands are available at the box office on the Kaiserberg from 6 p.m. on Saturday.

MI(N)T workshop “WHAT COLOR DOES A GREEN LEAF HAVE”
Ort: Blumenhalle

Discover the fascinating world of chromatography with us and make the different leaf dyes in green spinach visible. You can also show off your detective skills with a little puzzle:
You can observe it anew every year: In spring, delicate light green leaves sprout on the trees, in summer they show an intense darker green and in autumn they finally turn yellow, red or brown. But how do plants do this? In our workshop, we would like to explore the secret of leaf (re)coloration with you. To do this, we will delve into the fascinating world of chromatography together and use everyday objects to make the different leaf pigments of fresh spinach visible.
