Actually, we are always delighted when we see that the garden show has been chosen as a habitat by local wildlife. However, these new inhabitants bring worry lines to our foreheads. A roebuck and his ladies are feasting on the tender buds of the spring bloomers and have already caused devastating damage to the flower beds. They have eaten almost all of the tulips planted last year and are now feasting on the replanted buds of pansies and the like. The tried and tested method of spreading sheep’s wool in the beds in previous years to deter the occasional deer has failed this year, and even the products that are supposed to spoil the deer’s appetite leave them unimpressed. We are at a loss, our gardeners are sad and there is nothing left for us to do but to tell you the sad news that the park will not shine in its usual splendor this year. We ask for your understanding!
