After Matthias Würsching’s winning pumpkin last year beat the pumpkin that had been unbeaten since 2011, which weighed 717.5 kg at the time, by 728.4 kg, things got exciting again on September 22 at the 16th Rhineland-Palatinate Pumpkin Weighing Championships at the Kaiserslautern Garden Show!

In fact, the record was broken again. The third heaviest pumpkin from Medhi Daho, who had traveled all the way from Le Mans, France, broke last year’s record with a weight of 753.8 kg. Elmar Hubertus’ pumpkin from Marpingen took second place with a weight of 796.6 kg. Matthias Würsching beat his own record from last year with a sensational weight of 834.9 kg.

In addition to the giant pumpkins, field pumpkins were also weighed, with Owen Olsen’s pumpkin taking first place with 43.2 kg and Owen Olsen’s longourd (snake pumpkin) also taking first place with a length of 2.54 meters. In addition to pumpkins, other vegetables also took part in the Rhineland-Palatinate Weighing Championships.
